Ritual Release

Scars, Book One, Entry Four.

The electricity reverberates.

The music satiates,

In a dingy bar.

The Crowd.

The Band.

Chaos.

Control.

A happening.

A story told.

Above the dingy city stained,

Catastrophe reigns,

From the Golden Hours that slash,

Through skies with winds that clash,

And curling clouds that crack as they swirl.

In a dingy basement below,

A crowd of dreamers dance,

A final cymbal crash.

The vocalist holds one last note,

Lost to cheers-

They feel revered.

A moment of pause.

The Band takes a beat,

The crowd takes a breath,

Tunes strings,

Lights smokes,

Taps pedals,

Craves relief,

Trace a dose of ink,

Five shots, glasses clink,

As the final moon consumes,

The ritual resumes.

The Vocalist rifts,

The Crowd’s howl-

-Sound drifts,

In the dingy basement

Packed with dreamers.

The high-hat counts-off,

Cues the third beat,

The Crowd starts to heat,

Ink blurs the word, full of craze,

The dingy basement, full of haze,

Strings strummed humming.

Ink throbs, burns, numbing.

The nocturne shatters,

From the ritual clatter,

Neon lights cascade,

From the Golden Hours, Dreamers find shade.

From the screams.

To the rhymes,

From the Chaos,

Controlled with time,

Sapphire shivers to a teal shimmer,

Explodes to emerald,

Melts with silver,

Fragments with fire,

Silhouettes to violet.

Each dreamer feels it,

The air grows light.

Ritual spins tight.

…Into harmony.

…Into nightmare.

Escape,

Release.

Pain…

…Melts…

…away.

Sweaty,

Smokey,

Dreamers

The Crowd,

Blurs

The Band,

Forgets.

Escapes.

Sweet,

Addicting ecstasy,

Climaxes—pleasure, dread,

The end aways cycling into again.

The Vocalist hits piercing highs,

The ink always stains as it dries,

The vocals turn hoarse.

Ink traces feel coarse,

In a dingy, almost cozy, maybe dreary basement,

Of a dingy bar,

The ritual complete.

The band sighs, relief.

The Crowd’s cheers-

Turns to a chant,

One…

…song.

As above the dingy city,

The Golden Hours wane.

Into twilight, crimson malaise,

Giving way to the new lunar phase,

The encore rocks on.
